A new commission, fit to size!
Welcome to my studio, where all the magic happens! It is always so exciting for me to begin a new project. This is a custom commissioned piece in 2 panels that will flank 2 sides of a built in bar in a beautiful home in Tucson, Arizona.
Let’s Get Started!
I always say "go where you know" and in this piece, I began by cutting out my wood panel substrates and gathering all of my treasures. My “palette” is all in an earthy, rusted metal in a variations of browns & whites.
SIDEWALK, the original
This is the inspiration behind my new commission. SIDEWALKS, the original hangs in a lovely sitting room in Denver. The colors are perfect. I named it SIDEWALK because I would ride my bike to my studio everyday and find rusted metal bits along the way that I would collect. I used all of my collection in this piece and then added more to it.
The Layout!
Just wow, I really enjoy this part of my process. I call it my “rough sketch”, where once I have my “palette” I begin laying out my design. This particular piece is very linear with repetitive circle patterns. You can see the influence from SIDEWALKS in this commission, the same but different!
A smaller version for SALE!
I think art should be for everyone, so I always try to make more affordable pieces alongside a major piece of art. This is part of my 12” X 12” series and is available to purchase.
Life is in the details…
Viola’ the final MASTERPIECE!
